Personalized coaching for families with AD/HD children
Family struggle due to AD/HD Just as surely the sun rises and sets each day, a struggle develops in most families where there is AD/HD... and as far as east is from west, the solutions somehow seem remote... |
If you are dealing with a difficult issue or situation in your family due to AD/HD, you are not alone. AD/HD's flammable nature can set your house on fire with love of conflict, uncontrollable energy, stubbornness, dislike of conformity, argumentative attitude, poor impulse control, just to mention a few. |
 |
One way to alleviate or prevent the struggle at home is to create an environment of being connected to each other, which is the key to emotional well-being for family members and preventing the potential AD/HD fire. Being connected means that each family member's emotional well-being is secure, and that each member has a sense of belonging and feels loved, respected and understood. A family can bolster this sense of being connected in many ways, e.g., eating dinner together. |
Yet, prevention via being connected with each other is only one side of the coin. The other side is learning how to deal with conflicts when they occur. Just because each family member values, respects or understands other members does not mean that the family is immune from potential conflicts. As an example, being understood by other family members does not necessarily mean they agree. Conflicts inevitably emerge in all families. AD/HD's love of conflict just makes it more frequent and intense. |
If your family is struggling, please don't give up hope. You are not alone. Often a family struggle presents an opportunity for greater connectedness and lasting solutions.
Believe that change is possible. And take action! |
